Before going ahead with the tutorial, let’s take a look at the final image.
Let’s start our tutorial:
Illustrator part
Step1:
Open up a new document in illustrator of size 650X481.89px.
Step2:
Select the colors: For fill I’ve used a linear gradient of white color #fffff and light pink color #A31656.
Step3:
For Stroke I’ve selected the color #662D91.
Step4:
Now select the Type Tool and type “W”. Font is Century schoolbook and font style is regular. Font size is 147.09pt.
Step5:
Now, go to Effect and select 3D from dropdown menu and then select Extrude & Bevel as shown below.
Step6:
Now make the settings as shown in the picture below and set the axis according to the image given below.
Step7:
Now you’ll have something like the picture shown below.
Step8:
Repeat same process for next letter “E” but choose another color gradient for it. You can use same color selection like mine or you can use colors of your own choice. Use same font and adjust size.
Step9:
Again go to Effect, to 3D and select Extrude & Bevel. Adjust the settings according to the picture shown below.
Step10:
Repeat same process for all the letters. Use different color gradient for each. Set different axis position for each letter and place them one after the other as shown below.
Step11:
Now we have our 3D colorful text effect and our illustrator part is complete. It’s time to open this text effect in Photoshop for background and a bit more decoration. To do that, open a new document in Photoshop o size 900X600 px.
Step12:
Now we are going to fill this document with a radial gradient of black color #000000 on both sides and dark grey color #996666 in the middle.
Step13:
It’s time to open our text in Photoshop and place it in the middle as shown below.
Step14:
To make the text more prominent “Right click” on the text layer and go to blending options then select Bevel & Emboss and adjust the settings as shown below.
Step15:
Now create a new layer and select the swirl brush and make a few swirls around the text as shown below. Keep the color of brush white #ffffff.
Step16:
Now we are going to give color to our swirls and make them prominent by embossing. Right click on the swirls layer and go to Blending Options. Select the Gradient Overlay as shown below.
Step17:
I’ve selected various colors for my gradient overlay as you can see in the picture shown below. You can use the colors of your own choice.
Step18:
After that, select Bevel &Emboss and adjust the settings as shown below.
Step19:
Now you’ll have something like the image given below.
Step20:
Create another layer for another set of swirls. I’ve use swirl brush # 466 here and kept the color white #ffffff.
Step21:
Right click on the second layer of swirls and go to Blending Options. Select outer glow to give a luminous effect and adjust the settings as shown in the image give below.
Step22:
Okay, now our colorful 3D text effect is complete.
Hope you guys had fun making it with me. Until next time take care and enjoy this colorful 3D text effect. Chao.
