As you know people all over the world are celebrating love this month and we at WebSoulz are trying to share our love for web and graphic designing by making a colorful valentine’s day card tutorial for our wonderful websoulz users. So without wasting time let us get to the details.
Program: Photoshop CC
Time: 20 min
Let’s start our tutorial:
Start your Photoshop and open up the new document of 5 into 7 inch file with ‘CMYK’ mode. And name it valentine’s day card and set the 0.25inch bleeds (To set the guides, click on View> New guide).
Select rectangle tool and make long vertical strips using colors shown in the image given below. Place all the stripes as shown in the picture given below and leave small space at the bottom for your valentine’s day message.
Select heart custom shape or make it using pen tool with white color #ffffff. Place it in the middle of the striped area. You can use the size of the heart shown in the image given below.
Now you will have something like this.
Again make a heart shape a bit smaller than the previous with the color # cf5562. Use the measurement shown in the given image.
Now we are going to give pink heart some inner shadow to give it a bit of depth. To do that right click on the pink heart layer go to blending options and then select inner shadow. Use the settings shown in the image for the shadow.
Check out the pic below. This is what you should have by now.
Select an ellipse tool and make a black circle (very small) and then select a rounded rectangle and make a key hole. Use black color#000000 for it. Now your heart lock is ready.
Again open up your custom shapes for a key shape or use pen tool to make a key for the heart lock. Use white color #ffffff and place it on the left side of the heart lock a bit higher. See the image shown below for reference.
Now we are going to give our key stroke to make it more visible. Right click on the key layer, go to blending options and then select stroke. Make the settings shown below for stroke with color#836958.
Now we will add some drop shadow. See the settings for the drop shadow in the image shown below.
This is what you should have by now.
Now we are going to add “U” to our kinda “I love you” phrase. Select the consolas font, make it bold and of size 266.25pt. After that use the same steps we used to give our key stroke and drop shadow.
So far this is what we have.
Now we are going to add our valentine’s day text or message at the bottom of the card. Use Comic Sans MS font for it of size 30 pt for second line and 36 pt for the first one.
See the color numbers shown on the image given below for the text.
There you have it.
You can customize this card to make it your own by changing colors or text. Enjoy the season of love.
