Learn how to make an iPhone mock-up with user interface in Photoshop

Hello people, I’m here again with another great and very useful tutorial for you guys. This week in this tutorial we are going to create an iPhone mockup, which is very popular and useful when it comes to showcase any of your graphic design project and we will make it from scratch with an e-com user-interface on the screen.

So note down the things we’ll need for this tutorial.

Requirements: Main screen image, metallic net texture#7.

Program:  Photoshop CS5

Time: 40-45 min

Before going ahead with the tutorial let’s have a look at the final image:

Now let’s start our tutorial.

Step1:

Start your Photoshop and open up a new document of 1000×1000 px. This is our background layer.

Step2:

Now fill the layer with color # 4d4d4d.

Step3:

In this step we will give our background a bit of texture and to do that go to Filter, select Noise from the drop down menu and then select Add noise. See the picture given below for reference.

Step4:

Set the amount of the noise to 7.16%, Distribution will be Uniform and also check the Monochromatic box.

Step5:

Now select a rounded rectangle shape or select the pen tool to make a rounded rectangle shape as shown in the image below.

Step6:

Right click on the layer and go to blending options then check on gradient overlay. Use the gradient shown in the image given below to give it a metallic look.

Step7:

Now you will have a metallic rectangle as shown below in the picture.

Step8:

Now create another rounded rectangle same as before but 1px short with black color #000000. Now right click on its layer and go to blending options then check the gradient overlay. Use the gradient shown below.

Step9:

Now you will have the basic shape of iPhone as shown in the picture below.

Step10:

Open up that image, copy it and past it as screen as shown below.

Step11:

Now we will work on the upper part of our iPhone. Make a small circle using ellipse tool for the small power light with color # 353535.

Step12:

Right click on the circle layer, go to blending options and then select gradient overlay. Set the gradient shown below in the given image. And this is the small power light.

Step13:

Also check on the stroke box, keep the size 2px with color #202020.

Step14:

Now we’ll make the speaker. Select a rounded rectangle tool and make narrow horizontal shape with color # 363636 as shown below.

Step15:

Right click on the layer->Blending options->Bevel & Emboss. Make the settings shown in the image below to give the strip a bit of depth.

Step16:

Now check the Texture box in bevel &emboss. Upload the metallic net texture if you don’t have it already and set it with scale 1% and depth -87%.

Step17:

Now select the rectangle tool and make a narrow strip across the screen with color # oaoaoa.

Step18:

Here I’ve made a little shape of battery cell which you can easily make using pen tool of rectangle tool like me.

Step19:

In this step we are going to show the battery fill for which I’ve used again rectangle tool making five small vertical strips in white color #ffffff.

Step20:

On the left side I’ve made 5 white color strips of different sizes using rectangle tool to show the signal. In the middle put time using type tool with Calibri font, adjust the size accordingly. I also put a wi-fi sign made again with pen tool.

Step21:

Now we will add the browsing user interface on our screen. Make a horizontal strip of color # 593b2f across the screen as shown below.

Step22:

Now we will make buttons for our user interface. Select rounded rectangle tool and make a square shape shown below. Right click on the layer, go to blending options then select gradient overlay. Use the gradient shown in the image below.

Step23:

Place the search icon or shape on the button and make the shape shown on the left side (select it if you have it in your customized shapes or make it with pen tool. Use the same gradient we used for the search button.

Step24:

Use Lucida sans Unicode font of 24pt size in white color # ffffff to write Fasion in the middle and back on the left side button.

Step25:

Now we will place buttons on the lower part of the screen. Make a strip using rectangle tool of black color across the screen on lower bottom part of the screen image as shown below.

Then use customized shapes to make the icons shown in the image with color # 4d4d4d.

Step26:

Now select the type tool and type the name of each icon using again Lucida sans Unicode font but keep the size 9pt and in white color # ffffff.

Step27:

Select rounded rectangle tool make a square shape with white color # ffffff and place it on top of the popular icon to show the pressed button there. Reduce its opacity to 15%.

Step28:

Now the last part of our iPhone, we are going to make its single button. Select ellipse tool and make a circular shape as shown below with color #353535.

Step29:

Right click on the layer, go to blending options, select gradient overlay and use the gradient shown in the image given below. Set the angle to 21 degrees to give a little tilt to the gradient.

Step30:

Now select the stroke of 1px size and of color # 3f3f3f to show a bit of depth.

Step31:

Now select the hollow square shape again from the customized shapes and make the square with white color # ffffff and place it in the middle of the round shape as shown below.

Step32:

Now we will add a few more buttons, one on the upper edge of the IPhone and two on the left side edge. Use the gradient shown below to show the metallic look of the buttons.

Step33:

It’s time to add a bit of shine on our iPhone and to do that select pen tool with white color #ffffff and make this triangular shape shown below. Fill the path with white color.

Step34:

Now right click on the shape and select delete path.

Step35:

Reduce the opacity to 20% and there you have your shine. Now our iPhone mock-up is complete with its e-com user interface. Have a look.
