In this tutorial we will learn how to create a nice and fun text effect in Photoshop. You will learn some interesting techniques in this tutorial so let’s start.

Now let’s have a look at the final results:

Playful Text effect

Step 1:

Open your photoshop and create a new file with 1000Px Width and 750px height.

Step 2:

Now select the “Paint Bucket Tool” and Fill the background with # feece2.

Step 3:

You can also add some pattern to the background.

Step 4:

Now create a new layer, for this click on layer> New> Layer. Then select one of the banner brushes and use it on our background with color # ea8f62.

Step 5:

Create another layer, and this time select one of the urban brushes and use it on the side with the same color.

Step 6:

Now select the “Text Tool” and add the first letter. Make sure your text color is # 422901.

Step 7:

Alright, now we will add a bit of “drop shadow” to our text. And for this click on Layer tab> Layer style> Drop Shadow. As we have selected dark brown color for our text so we will choose a lighter brown color for the shadow. I’m going to use this # e2b88e.

Step 8:

Now add the drop shadow keeping the setting same as the image.

Step 9:

Now let’s decorate our text. First right click on the text layer and rasterize it. Then select the “Rectangular Marquee Tool” and select a small area of the text.

Step 10:

Click on the foreground color and make sure its # f26d7d.

Step 11:

Now select the “Paint Bucket Tool” and fill the text area.

Step 12:

Select the “Move Tool” and simply move it a bid away from the text.

Step 13:

Now click on Layer> Layer style> Stroke. And add some black stroke.

Step 14:

Once again select the “Rectangle marquee Tool” and select a small area of the text. And this time fill it with # ffffff.

Step 15:

Now again select the “Move Tool” and move the selected area.

Step 16:

Now simply use some basic brushes to decorate it more using different colors. You can also use various custom shapes if you want.

Step 17:

Repeat the same process and create other letters.

Step 18:

Create a new layer, for this click on Layer> New> Layer. Now select the splatter brushes with color # ffffff.

Step 19:

Now change the blending mode of the above layer to “Overlay” and we are done.

Step 20:

You can choose whatever color you like. Here’s some samples.
